Project Summary:
Design-build buildout and renovation of an existing 96,000 SF tilt-up warehouse and office space into a new airline catering food processing facility equipped with a menu presentation space and office spaces. The build-out consisted of 40,000 SF of new insulated metal panel washdown production spaces, a hot kitchen, coolers, freezers, and an employee cafeteria; 26,000 SF in renovated office spaces and menu presentation area; and 30,000 SF of bonded and duty free liquor storage. The finished product consisted of a 1st floor loading dock and production space, a mezzanine level maintenance area and fully walkable interstitial space, and a 2nd floor warehouse, parking deck, and office space.
The existing deck was built using precast spancrete slabs requiring the Milord-led design team to come up with new anchoring and attachment details. The project requirements also deemed it necessary for a brand new electrical service to be designed, coordinated, and installed. A 52 LF long double sided deck suspended grease hood was installed for the main hot kitchen cookline. This was the client’s single longest cookline in any of their facilities.
In addition to the services contracted for, Milord assisted the client by managing and coordinating the food service equipment delivery and installation, (2) two autoclave and trash compactor installations, and IT set-up and installation. Milord Company continues to maintain a strong relationship with Flying Food Group and has gone on to build similar facilities for them in Chicago, Miami, and Newark.
