Milord was selected as the design-builder in January of 2013 for this new 400,000 lift Intermodal Container Transfer Facility in Port Everglades, Florida. The project was needed to prepare for the expected increased Panama Canal shipping traffic. The project consisted of a seven lane international Automatic Gate System (AGS); a separate domestic four lane AGS; a double track lead w/OCR portals; a two story transportation building; a maintenance building; a data center; medium voltage power; full yard backup generators and UPS systems. In addition the facility includes three process tracks, three storage and one escape track and utilizes rubber tired gantrys for lifts. All pavement is roller compacted concrete w/ augercast pile supported crane ways. The new leads extend from the existing yard and run under three highways, two new grade crossings and through the new 595 / Port Everglades interchange work zone. In addition the project included new mainline track and signal interlocking along with full DTME yard operation.
