Milord Company was engaged by Norfolk Southern Railway Company to build a new 7300 square foot administration building. The project site is in a rural area and located approximately four feet above bedrock. The construction consisted of site clearing, remediation of contaminated soils, installation of a sanitary lift station to pump effluent to the septic field. The effluent piping, secondary power conduit and communications conduits were directionally bored under approximately eighty feet of live railroad track. The building was a slab on grade masonry bearing structure with wood truss roofing. Interior finishes were painted drywall partitions, acoustical ceilings and carpet tile and vinyl tile flooring. Due to the rural location, the heating had to be high efficiency to minimize consumption of the delivered propane fuel. Cooling was accomplished with electric condensers and cooling coils. Milord Company also provided and installed all the furniture including desks, chairs, lunch room facilities and conference room table.
